Who here has read this book?

What did you think about it? Is it still applicable in the 21st century? Discuss.

I read it a few years back. It's essentially a long series of anecdotes, but there are insights in it.

Probably the major one is: people don't want to hear about you. They want to hear about themselves.

for aspiring sociopaths and people with mild narcissistic personality disorder (this stuff comes naturally to the real deal)

>I've never read this book, ever.

Paper thin, bro. Paper thin.

You're supposed to get the updated one, HTWFAIP in the Digital Age unless there's a more recent edition. The original is still useful, but it really is just a book >>5478014

Its a good book. If I was recommending someone a book like that I would tell them to read Mastery or 50th Law by Robert Greene because they are more current and cover the same content plus more.

the last guy I knew to read this book talked about its magical properties for manipulating people, was a pua, and ended up in prison. He's out now. Loved prison.

Another guy was an out-and-out NPD dude. Was gross about underage women like a /b/ dude. Not just prone to talking about himself; this dude would incessantly tell self-aggrandizing stories to anyone who would listen. Like to brag that anything was for the taking, as long as you asked and made other people feel good about themselves. But mostly as long as you asked. And intimidated them a a little. No shortage of friends, no shortage of enemies. Kind of an empty hole, though. Never could fill himself up with enough narcissistic supply. Basically incapable of being alone, whether to listen to music or watch tv or whatever. Took a lot of adderall because he was also afraid of sleeping. Wants to be a teacher and got his certificate. In 20 years he'll probably be that bald middle aged teacher caught doinking a 13 year old. For now he makes fucking latte foam art and he could not be more humble-proud.

Are any of his other books worth checking?

Sorry, would you rather I refer to you as "autist"?

Get your dick out and go back to /b/. You're the one reading books about how to behave and make friends. Do you know anything about autism? Explicit social instruction will be a part of any autism special day class these days. I'm not saying you're autistic (probably just a rando who's a little cocky on the internet), but have a clue if you're gonna be that guy who reads an entire book about how to function in polite society.

Some of that shit it the Carnegie book, like remembering names and asking questions about a person, are exactly he things being taught in sdc social skills classes to 12 year olds with aspergers.
