Do you think great thinkers of past days would have television appearances if they were alive today, like Slavoj Zizek?

Do you think Schopenhauer and Hegel would have debated each other live on television?

I think so yeah.

Thinkers who feel like they're too good for any of that are worthless really.

They probably debated constantly, considering they were both Young Hegelians.

Definitely. At the least in the instance of those two. Schopenhauer tooks some pretty public shots at Hegel. It's hard to imagine that he also wouldn't have used television. And then Hegel would be drawn into it inevitably even if he didn't want to in the first place.

If we want to expand this to other philosophers, the only one that immediately comes to mind that wouldn't do it is Nietzsche. And if he did do it, I think our conception of Nietzsche would be very different from what it is now.

The closest American TV gets to having intellectuals on screen is dr. Phil.

I don't think so, they say absolutely everything in their books.
TV is too much ethos for serious thinkers
Just my opinion though
