Thoughts on this guy? Favorite novels/stories?

>> No.5457954

Great writer, to me defined 60's Sci-fi. Favorite story would be Ubik.

That's like something from a Phillip K. Dick story.

Actually, it's from a Warren Ellis story. And the truth. Kind of.

Every post of yours I've seen so far has been of the utmost quality. You should get rid of that name before people start to recognize you.

Again with the what's your favorite book thread

>yaaay mission accomplished I decided what my FAVORITIST book is today and not only that, I communicated it anonymously to other anonymous users on an image sharing internet site board

somebody pls explain to me the point of discussing 'favorites'. It's as pleb as it gets

>A Scanner Darkly for life

see that? somebody posted that, didn't say anything about the book, not one word about why he likes it or what it means to him, just the title and 'for life,' implying that he has some lifetime contract with that book that can never be broken, like a fucking tattoo. The guy's probably got "Scanner Darkly" tattooed on his ankle and that's why it's 'for life.' Do you see what you morons are doing? You're not having discussions you're just trading names and being boring.

Somebody please explain to me the point of complaining on an anonymous image board. It's as autistic as it gets.

>complains about an issue but doesn't try to fix it by adding to the conversation

I would say this is bait, but you sound too serious. Good post.

I think his ideas and stories are great and I really love them, but the execution... not exactly that word. The way he writes - he seems to completely ignore the postulate 'show, don't tell'. His books are incredibly fast paced and scenes are very short and sketchy.
This my only criticism of him. I wish his books were at least hundred pages longer and scenes were beter developed.
But despite that I still think of him as my favorite Sci-Fi author. And I am very like-minded to him. I read some interview with him, he even behaves like I do and expresses Ideas really close tome, though I'm too hesitant to talk about them as serious as he did. I mean, even if I believe in similar things and have similar worldview, it's still kind of hard to admit it to myself, because they're a bit extreme.
