Hey /lit/, /mu/tant here. I barely ever come on this board so forgive me if I'm committing any sort of faux pas, but I'd like some advice.

Pic related is an album by Dan Barrett under the name Giles Corey called Deconstructionist. It's supposed to basically cause hallucinations and NOSCs (it actually works), but anyways the digital download comes with a ~50 page pdf that's basically an essay on the human mind. Even if you don't want to listen to the album, I highly suggest reading it, it's amazing

Anyways, I need recs for other books or documents that expand on what Dan talks about in the essay, or the books Dan could have been influenced by. Mainly the theory that what we perceive as our inner minds and our environments are basically unified, we only experience them separately. I'd also love some books on non-spiritual transcendence.

May be a long shot, but could anyone help me out? Thanks

Not looking for fiction, looking for philosophy/psychology books.

I'm gonna assume you already check wikipedia for direct influences that Dan Barret may have commented in interviews and such.

You might want to look into psychology, but not psychoanalisis a la Lacan but more on the terms of Jung. It's pretty fun to read Jung in my experience, even though it's not considered very much since he just wrote what he felt like not too scientifically.

I've read a small amount of psychology, mainly Oliver Sacks, but I'll be sure to check out Jung. Thanks!

Still open to recs

Also, where do you recommend I start with Jung? Considering my needs and relative inexperience

Not that anon but you should definitely try 'The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious' first. Probably closest to what you're after.

Jung is way up your alley if you're looking for lit like this.

Ah, thanks! This is a big help.

Another /mu/tant recommended I read the Tibetan Books of Death, is that also a good read?

Yeah, I was just thinking about that.

It was a meme in the 90's in certain circles. It's okay, you check whatever you want and you'll find something, just like you might try reading some Derrida if you wanna check deconstruction.

Well I haven't first hand experience with that particular work but Jung would be a good starting place overall because he was an incredibly erudite man who heavily studied and was able to aggregate all of these elusive schools of gnostic thought into unified theories.

If perception is your main interest here then Jung is a solid first option.

Any other last suggestions?

No, it totally is! I love Lynch and I've been trying to get into meditation myself, do you have a link to a transcript?

Did you even read what I wrote?

Any book classic, actually. That would probably help you reconsider and make you grow out of Giles Corey edgy, overly lugubrious angst.
