a quasi-detective story set in the Midwest involving mutiple characters all referred to as 'the investigator'. As the story progresses the characters, who were initially disparate, all converge into a single character named Norman Blonkett Greeley.

holy shit, i was thinking about writing a short story with a fairly similar plot to this.

mine was based off of a lynching in bleeding kansas and the surrounding investigation, with chapters organized by each character's activities on the days before, of and following the murder, non-chronologically. actors would be finder, coroner, mother (of the pathologist's children, not of the deceased), search party, accused, and guilty. final chapter starts with the names of the deceased, the only ones mentioned throughout the story.

i'm not going to write it, though, because fuck that.
