Being without employment for half a decade is exactly what I mean with "a suffering career."

And yes, I've seen plenty of relationships between academics. It's frustrating when one person is successful and renowned, as their position as x university was more secure, so the other has to move along with them. There just aren't enough positions to go around as is, much less trying to find two for a couple in the same area.

She is born, isn't fat, is a 7 or better out of 10.

She gets tonnes of validation in all sorts of ways because of her looks.

Rather than spend 15 hours a week disconnected from the outside world, in her room, reading books, she gains more validation, which leads to more validation.

Validation here means positive attention, money, gifts (inb4 having dates etc. paid for is not a gift ), job opportunities etc.
