New age gobbledygook, not as blatantly crazypants as some new age stuff, but still definitely nonsense.

Only things I know about RAW are from listening to him do interviews and he seems pretty alright

What's wrong with it? It's mostly just classical sociology and psychology.

You either haven't read it, or have an exceedingly bizarre definition of (read: no understanding) of classical sociology and psychology.

Expand your point, please.

I like it. I like RAW quite a bit and have read a good amount of his works. I think you kinda have to have a special kind of mindset to "get" it.

Basically you have to know how to have fun and not really be too invested in your beliefs. The map isn't the territory, after all. We all use maps in our day to day and intellectual pursuits and sometimes lose sight of that fact.

And even knowing that in an abstract way doesn't help you; You'll catch yourself buying into your map and stumble on rocks and shit. I think his approach really helps you be more aware of that kind of shit.

Also he's a Joyce fan, and you can tell in his fiction. If he's not outright cribbing Joyce (That one chapter in Schrodinger's Cat literally taking from the Circe chapter and some part in Illuminatus! havily cribbing from Penelope's style)

Anyone who likes Joyce is mah nigga.

In the end, he gets quite a bit off, but that's to be expected; It's an book that won't get any younger. We've not yet found that life extension he was looking forward to, and a lot of his speculative science kinda fell flat, but that doesn't make it worthless by any means. The power in these concepts aren't in their veracity but rather what they stand for. It's a heavily forward looking book, for once. Ain't that a nice change from all the dreariness?

tl;dr: s'cool.

It can serve as a good introduction to occultism, yes.

That would be the kabylion.

From what Ive heard on /x/ its a poor mans Eckhart Tolle and most of the scientific aspect of it is based on outdated works.

I've been keeping an eye on it, but I always choose to do something productive instead.
