I think if schools were to teach the most efficient way to take care of the basics(e.g.; hygiene through financial stability), people would then be free for creative pursuits, which I see it as the growth of society.

You could get a large group of followers, (friends/family + like minded recruits) and travel together to some tiny place no one cares about with a weak central government (Equador, most African countries, Prince Edward Island).

You and your rebels stage your coup, take over, and place yourself as leader. You can now slowly transition into your new society, (but it may take longer if your already in a developed area). Personally I would kill off most of the indigenous population and replace them with my followers, except the ones who want to follow my ideals.

Hell, if ISIS can continue its conquest unchallenged and Sealand continues to exist, why cant you start your own Rogue State? As long as you dont threaten to take over any more land and you keep your population happy you are golden.

For the most recent look at ISIS in the middle east, they are pulling from around the world to get people who agree with them. Their ideas and methods clash almost to everyone not supporting them thus the whole child killing and genocide. The only way for a society they wish to exist to form though is a homogenus society.
Short of new land found, space travel/the moon. Its almost immpossible with out massive killing and violence to grab a peice of the world and shape it to your views. So better learn to kill is step one.
I suppose under water bubble/dome city states would also work. Also more likely and closer tech wise than space/moon colonies.
