I just found out that Reddit has a 'weekly writing critique' thread on their /r/writing subreddit.

Here's the current one.

Go there and find some awful shit.

/r/writingprompts is even better for awful writing from Reddit. I go there more or less daily and I've read maybe two or three actually redeemable pieces of fiction there.

Who gives a shit.

Most of the writing there is leagues better than anything of seen on /lit/

>> No.5218381

this is all so much better than the shit that gets posted here

That isn't what I'm saying at all. There are places I enjoy on Reddit and I participate in the writing prompts threads myself. But the quality of writing there is honestly abysmal.

>>5218383
then why bother bringing it to /lit/? what is the point of saying "look guys these people have mediocre writing ability lets laugh at them"?

>> No.5218399

>>5218391
Why not? I see no difference between that and the usual

>self-publishing

threads.

>> No.5218418

>>5218399
Because these people are looking for constructive criticism. They want to improve. >Self-publishing threads mock the idiots that push their work without regard for quality, assuming that the tripe they write holds a monetary value.

Reassurance topic GO GO GO

No, they're not. They're looking for hugboxing and validation. Post an actually critical reply and they will leap to defend themselves, to castigate you, and generally be unreceptive little shits.

Valid criticism

Seems about on par with most of the writing I've read here

Somebody critique my story of a NEET with no gf.

>> No.5221070

>>5218316
I don't read shit like this, ever. I just can't be bothered to spend time looking at another person's WIP. Unless you're an English professor or something, doing it for sport, then I don't see why anyone should give a shit. Find some friends and ave them critique your dogshit.

/r/badphilosophy is fun too. Basically just the subreddits that make fun of other subreddits are worthwhile.
