Hi /lit/, /tv/ here. I was wondering if there are any Star Wars books that you guys would actually consider " well written". Pic possibly related.
Thanks in advance.

In short, no.

But I'll give you the best of the worst:
Timothy Zhan
Kevin J. Anderson
Steve Perry

Thrawn Trilogy is the universal "only thing worth reading" answer

When I was a young teenager I read nothing but star wars novels and have read something like 42 of them in total. Matthew Stover is probably the closest you're going to get to stuff that isn't absolutely horrible. New Jedi Order: Traitor by him was pretty good.

None of them are well written, though. And I don't just mean "muh prose," I mean the characters, plot, and general themes are universally haphazard and idiotic.

I read a bunch of them and I don't think any of them were very well written. I'm sure they'd be cringier if I tried to read them again today, but I liked this trilogy the best: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Han_Solo_Trilogy

Yes, the best of the worst is still shit. This has been established.

They were slow and pointless. They introduced characters and Force stopping marsupials. Three long books of boredom. They were shit by Star Wars standards.

But Thrawn was the coolest.

I remember reading the Boba Fett books (startin from episode till he grew up or something). Loved it.

No idea if I, as a grown adult, would like them now

Good writers are too arrogant to do hack work unless it's their own original hack work, and even then it pisses them off to be reminded of shit they wrote for money.
