why is /ic/ so much more supportive than /lit/

>> No.5109341

most users of /lit/ are unhappy depressives who are mostly drunk

Because the majority of users in /ic/ are confident in their own talents, and don't need to belittle others to feel better about themselves.

what is there to argue about on /ic/

because writers are filled with the desperate need to be acknolwedged/heard

and the acts of reading and writing are overshadowed by the need to justify/argue about why a work (or hypothetical work) is valuable enough to be read and appreciated

it's part of a necessary sorting process because there is so much to read in the world and both reading and writing can take a lot of time

It's easier to dismiss than engage.

It's hard to take anything seriously.

And winning is more often a motivator than genuine interest.
