What I read - Book

What I expected - Sincerity/Interest/Profoundness

What I got - [insert barrage of images that humorously deprecate chosen book's content as silly/arbitrary/idiosyncratic]

Because I got the feeling that every vile character has its own 3 page monologue about 'God doesn't exist' in order to justify their actions. They even use similar arguments to the ones that you can hear to Dawkins worshippers-fedora tippers.

I don't understand the last panel, is the point that Jane Austen was a member of the gentry whose plots are mostly concerned with money and social status? (a true fact btw)

Elizabeth was a gold digger at least in my interpretation.

Funny thing about Jane Austen, she's actually realtalk as fuck

>> No.5090549

>>5090504
This is actually satirized/pointed up in the part where she talks to Jane and Jane asks when she first came to love him, and she says when she saw his house. Actually, what this meant to the character was that she needn't feel bad about loving him because he was clearly sincere, since he could obviously have any woman he wanted.

if they are not mentioned in muh unbiased international lit communities, then idgaf about them.

>> No.5090670

>>5090604
I'm mentioning them because they are excellent books. There is no international lit community that cares about Finnish avant garde literature, at least before it is translated: that is why viral and word of mouth is only thing that save Yli-Juonikas.

What do you think is his best translated novel?

It's almost bizarre how little Waltari has been translated - 9 novels out of 140 works.
