Metaphysica Morum is a 6/10. Too short, kinda runs out of steam before the epilogue. It's almost the kind of story you'd imagine someone writing right after reading The Conspiracy...

The Small People, on the other hand, is easily one of Ligotti's best stories to date.

To be fair... considering his age, his anhedonia, and his health (this two stories only exist because last year he collapsed, had emergency surgery and almost died on the table, which somehow managed to break his writer's block), I wouldn't be too surprised if this was the last Ligotti book we get.

It's a hard copy. You can't upload those anymore than you can download a car. Truth be told, I don't have a scanner at home. But I'm pretty sure Subterranean Press is releasing it as an ebook too, so that's bound to leak eventually.

Incidentally, Born to Fear looks pretty good. Haven't read it yet, but it's quite a big book.

I'd like to reassess my rating and give MM a 7/10. Skimming through it again I realized I forgot it has some pretty crazy shit. Namely a letter halfway through the story that drops a Motel Hell reference! (though if I'm not misremembering anything, Ligotti actually quotes Motel Hell in The Conspiracy... and MM draws heavily off it, so it kinda makes sense.) But reading that letter is like Ligotti turned into Joe R. Landsdale or something. It's quite funny and vicious..
