It's a comprehensive encylopedia of the horrors of autism.

It attempts to find common themes between media, but instead devolves into "I SAW THE THING THAT'S THE THING LOOK EVERYONE THE THING IS HAPPENING"

It also encourages severe laziness by encouraging people to spam the same words over and fucking over to the point where you have to wonder if they legitimately have tourettes.

>This Deconstruction was fun but the Gary Stu's Heel Face Turn was such a Funny Aneurysm Moment that my Suspension of Disbelief please shoot me in the head so I never breed

Not really, its full of autistic plebs who make /r9k/ look well-adjusted.

Their writing style and incestuous inside jokes are really dull to read, they have no real wit or insight into things, unlike us patricians here.

I was told by a gushing friend some years back that by reading this site it would ruin all movies and TV shows for me forever.

I then immediately got lost reading the thing for hours and hours before pulling myself out.

It hasn't ruined anything for me at all. My friend was a lying cunt.

It's really just trivia. If you like trivia or just like trivia about a specific film it's not too bad, but it's not really going to give you any insights into narrative structure. Just read your Joseph Campbell like everyone else.

Oh god, did the people reading these also write them? It's like everyone I avoided being associated with in high school.

You know it's 2014, right? You know that structuralism is as dead now as it gets? Read some Derrida already.

Bullshit! They managed to remove Real Life examples from Putting on the Reich:

>The uniforms of several state police forces were explicitly based on the uniforms of Tsarist or Prussian officials. This was a policy adopted in the Gilded Age, in the hope that this would make the recent immigrants from Eastern Europe have more respect for the police. Prussia and Tsarist Russia were militarist and authoritarian regimes, so...

There ratio of good content to garbage isn't great but there's a lot of funny stuff on there. I like the Xanatos Gambit/Indy Ploy. I hear the forums are awful.

it's rather misleading in terms of rhetoric (starting from the point where they completely misunderstand what a trope is) and criticism (hundreds of stupid "reviews" and "analysis" of media have been fueled by the articles on the site) but i suppose it's somewhat interesting as a phenomenon of collection and archiving of pop culture items under the terms of similarity and recognition.
