After all the philosophy you have read, what is your opinion on how to live life?

Define 'philosophy', 'read', 'opinion', 'living' and 'life'.

Serious philosophy doesn't tell you how to live your life. It's not some self-help book.

>> No.5052060

philosophy gives you the ability to make and criticize arguments. it's not a self help book. my moral outlook comes from interacting with people and developing love.

>philosophy gives you the ability to make and criticize arguments

And what about the different ways of seeing life? Don't tell me that philosophers don't write about how to afront some aspects of life or how to act etc...

After all the auto repair manuals you've read, what's the best engine oil to use?

NOT FUCKING LITERATURE ASSHOLE

>> No.5052098

I haven't read much of philosophical texts, but the ones I read to some extent altered my outlook on life, and that is what changes your interaction and attitudes from a fixed point of comfort to a new one. Precisely, that I shouldn't keep such fixed point, that I should keep it open to modification and alteration on my whim. This way I leave myself with more options of outlook, letting myself experience and appreciate life from different perspectives.

you do see how people have distinct modes of thought, kind of like a methodologically primitive cognitive neuroscience. i guess if you are an ethicist or action theory guy your stuff may have more direct relation to life
