Most unlikable main characters thread.

Started 'Notes From The Underground' recently.
Seriously, I had such thoughts when I was like 15 and a fedora autist. I began to feel increasingly unsettled when I proceeded through the text, reading about self-centered asshole whose hopelessness and inability to act made him feel 'special'.

I know it's maybe wrong to emotionally attach yourself to the book, but every person who sympathises with the Underground Man makes me want to puke.

>self-centered asshole
Protip: every single conscious human being on this planet is self-centered, we are all the MCs of our lives.
>hopelessness and inability to act
You can be hopeless and unable to act for many reasons, for the UG man it was the revelation of a deterministic universe in which the human race has no special place.
>15 and a fedora autist
What the hell does fedoras and autism have to do with the UG man? Nice memes.

the fact that you have such resentment against the Underground Man tells a lot about you

It's OK to pity him.

Catcher in the Rye. All he did was whine and he was stupid too.

This. I had to read it for english class in high school and fucking hated Holden and the whole book. I thought it was supposed to be this way, until our teacher told us that Holden was a big hit with teenagers.

Oh, God. What is this, reddit? Approach it like a fucking adult. No, you're not supposed to love Holden. You're supposed to consider why he is the way he is. Dead brother, sexual abuse, etc. Fuck's sake.

His suicide attempts with another people and feeling like a 'precious snowflake' were offputting.

Yeah and as an adult, I can say that he's just acting like a dumb teenager and that he'd better man up and get this phase overwith like every normal person. Everyone has their own problems, but he was just acting all dickish about it.

He didn't complain to anyone. The book was just his thoughts. It's not like he was bitching to the other characters.

Not the Phoebe stuff, Holden himself says he was molested after he gets out of Antolini's house because Antolini acts pervy.
