Are there any more pleasing book covers than the SF Masterworks series?

>> No.5037851

Some Folio Society covers are amazing.

I have Reformation: Europe's House Divided as released by the Folio Society.

I had like £400 worth of university granted money for history books so I thought I'd treat myself.

It looks nice, but IDK.

Folio Society books are incredibly expensive most of the time.

I like SF Masterworks because they look nice and are usually around the £10 mark.

Never heard of this series, is this a Britfag thing?

I agree, they look nice all lined up like that. Or maybe I'm just OCD

SF Masterworks is run by Gollancz, who I believe only operate within the UK, though they've got a lot of recognition this year for their Sci Fi series.

They do this thing where they have completely brutalist covers which I think they look nice, though that's only my opinion.

The Handmaid Stale

Awful typography. The apostrophe just doesn't help there.

Except for the re-releases of past covers which made them look sickly.

I really love the cover of this book
>But the story is utter shit
>>its like finding the masturbation fantasy notebook of your creepy brother in law
>>>like, its full of shit that would never happen in a million years ever
And right when you're like so sure that it's going to start getting good, it doesn't

>I still love Andrew Vachss
I think this one was bad because it's his first book and he didn't know what he was doing, like a silly virgin fumbling in the dark trying to figure out how to unhook a bra but his other works are much better

Shella is probably my favorite book ever.

and then the book was pretty meh

>and here's this planet which shows one aspect of mankind I don't like, look at them destryoing themselves
>and here's another planet showing one aspect I dislike, look at all these people dying

I guess it's like this since it's so old

>Shella is probably my favorite book ever.

Shella is the only Vachss book I've read, but one scene really stuck with me - when the bully does his thing of selecting a boy (a different one each time) to buy a chocolate bar then melt it on the radiator, so he can use it for lube when sodomizing them. Then the narrator's solution when he gets selected to buy a chocolate bar.

Most of these are really terrible covers.

Including the OP's copy of Dune. Y'all got NO aesthetic sense.
