My nigga

I'm a big fan of what Joe Abercrombie's writing, every book impresses me more than the last one. Anyone else hyped for his new trilogy?

The Prince of Nothing series is just terrible. I can't believe that there are published authors out there who can't manage to tell a story even if they're given almost 2,000 pages to do it.

You find it boring or what?

The entire series was just a prologue to whatever Bakker is writing next, no resolution or even completed story arcs. Also, it's a series about a crusade, but Bakker doesn't include any major characters that actually give a shit about the crusade, so you have hundreds and hundreds of pages describing the forces fighting without ever giving a single shit. Also terrible characters, and a bunch of other things make it terrible. One of the worst things I've read in the last couple years.

Honestly, The Belgariad and to a lesser extent the Malloreon.

Yes the plot is pretty paper thin and generic fantasy about a prophecy, but Eddings has such fantastic characterization. The characters are all fleshed out wonderfully and feel real, they are the driving force behind the story and so you actually feel pulled into the story, despite it's bland overarching plot.
