I wasn't aware that we called 'romancık' to novellas. You learn something everyday.

Candide by Voltaire

>> No.5019699

Both are overrated, especially Le Stranger.

Stranger is only rated as highly as it is because it's a novella whose themes and symbols are easy to spot.

If it was a hundred pages longer people would treat it with the same indifference they do Zola et al.

Also if pictures of Camus smoking cigarettes and looking like an edgemaster didn't exist his fanclub would pretty much fold.

I'm objectively right about all this by the way, just in case anybody is doubting anything written in the above

"Alas," said the mouse, "the whole world is growing smaller every day. At the beginning it was so big that I was afraid, I kept running and running, and I was glad when I saw walls far away to the right and left, but these long walls have narrowed so quickly that I am in the last chamber already, and there in the corner stands the trap that I must run into."

"You only need to change your direction," said the cat, and ate it up.

A lot of Chekhov's stories fit the bill. If I had to pick one, I'd say The Lady with the Dog or The House with the Mezzanine.

Also, Nabokov's The Eye.

It sounds like it's about the need for great sacrifice in order to gain great rewards, the great reward being the balancing act of existence, between the finite and the infinite, between order and chaos, an issue which, yes, Catholicism and other religions deal with directly.
