you read this yet /lit/?

>> No.501660

I'm gonna wait 656 years.

>> No.501677

I read the first 3 books. Got bored on the fourth. Probably pick it up again eventually. I got bored with how banal the accounts of the murders were. I expect fiction to transform things, not just to represent.

>> No.501696

I finished it. When I finished it, I thought it was ok. About a week later, I thought about the book as a whole and suddenly I realized how awesome it was. It's one of a very few books published in the last decade that I'd call "important."

>> No.503252

still on the part about the critics

>> No.503256

Got sidetracked, will try to have it done by the end of the year.

>> No.503263

on the part about the part about the crimes.

side note: do you guys call it "two thousand, six hundred sixty six" or "twenty six, sixty six" or "two six six six"?

>> No.503268

>>503263
>two thousand, six hundred and sixty-six.

>> No.503288

>>503263
two six six six

>> No.503858

I call it twenty-six sixty-six, and am looking forward to reading it this summer.

>> No.503866

I think I'll be picking this one up next. I've heard a lot of good things about Bolano's writing.

>> No.503951

It's "twenty-six sixty six."

The title is a reference to a passage in his book Amulet in which the protagonist has a vision of a street looking like a graveyard "in the year 2666."

>> No.504329

i'm going to read this soon, but i'm thinking of reading the Savage Detectives first. Is that a good or bad idea or does it not matter at all?

This. I started to put all the themes together after reading it and now I think that was a great.
