Atonin Artaud believed that reality is a consensus and that dreams and works of fiction are no less real than the "outside" world.

Does he have any particular works where he elaborates on this?

>Consensus reality

>Valued dreams and compared the to literature

>Spoke heavily about symbol representing a primal form of communication

>Loved the romantics as well as admiring the Jesuits

>Interested in Psychedelic and mind-altering drugs

This....this is fucking ridiculous. I've never heard of Artaud before this moment (forgive my ignorance) but his ideas mirror so very many of the thoughts I've been having recently, both in an artistic and metaphysical sense.

This is almost uncanny.

The same happened to me when I discovered him.

L'Ombilic des Limbes can help (my edition also contained his correspondance with Jacques Rivière which is a perfect introduction to his works and Le Pèse-Nerfs which has to be read as well).

My favourite part was where he rekt the fuck out of Shakespeare.

Please stick to his criticisms and playwrighting: one honestly ought not take his deluded rants seriously. "Artists" really shouldn't touch philosophy in any shape or form.

"Artists [im including art students in this definition]" shouldn't be allowed in University, they are indubitably the dumbest people there.

In his Van Gogh: The Man Suicided by Society. You can get it from Sontag's edition of Selected Writings. The writings on psychiatry around page 483-7, and on how war and other social institutions cause such sickness of a broader consciousness are pretty prescient considering they were written in '43.
