Because war makes the greatest artists, it's all we need to have new masterpieces to read.

Horror is the price of beauty.

>war
That's a funny way to spell poverty and alcohol.

>> No.4991074

>Because war makes the greatest artists...

THAT STATEMENT IS FALLACIOUS, AND WOULD REMAIN SO EVEN IF YOU DEFINED "GREATEST ARTISTS".

>Horror is the price of beauty.

THAT STATEMENT IS FALLACIOUS; BEAUTY IS NOT A COMMODITY, NOR SOMETHING THAT IS OBTAINED VIA COMMERCIAL TRADE, OR PHYSICAL EFFORT, THEREFORE IT HAS NO "PRICE" OR COST.

>the greatest artists
in music : Wagner
in cinema : Kubrick, Coppola, Kurosawa
in literature : Céline

If you want me to correct this last statement, I could say that horror is the process of beauty. It is why tragedy will always be superior to comedy. It is how we give intensity to our meaningless lives.

I could have Rebatet to the writers list.

1. YOU ARE STILL NOT DEFINING "GREATEST ARTISTS" –WHAT IS A "GREAT ARTIST", ACCORDING TO YOU?

2. "STRUGGLE" WOULD BE AN APTER TERM THAN "HORROR", BUT STILL, BEAUTY IS NOT EXCLUSIVELY, NOR NECESSARILY A CONSEQUENCE OF STRUGGLE.

I wanted to add that since I haven't read him, I hesitated to put him there but that since what I have heard he could have his place there. Deleted my post before reading yours anyway.

A great artist is someone that add clues to the unresolved equation of human condition. This is why, for example, painters that changed the way we represent ourselves such as Picasso or Francis Bacon are the most important of art history.

Since nature is a constant struggle, then yes, it is necessarily a consequence of struggle. It has been the case since the bing bang happened.

So you're telling us modern Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan... produce a ton of masterpieces each year? Because war makes the greatest artists, right?

Even Pink Floyd which is the greatest band from a mediocre genre (what they knew, this is why they used so many other elements to their compositions) were that good because of Water's father being killed at war.

are you trying to imply pink floyd were the best prog rock band?

It takes time to make a masterpiece and we could have hope for the coming years if the Marines weren't all drunk morons.
The sensitive ones are probably getting psychiatric help which might enable them to give us something, I don't know.

Some people say that because of the perfection we have reached in the artistic supports I listed, we should totally change our way of creating art and should create new supports instead of trying to make something better, because we won't ever reach their perfection.
