help

>> No.4989116

just read heller instead LOL

>> No.4989127

Hahaha it will never stop being funny that people hear Gravity's Rainbow is "real hard", don't even consider Pynchon has like 6 other books, buy that one to be super patrichè and then can't make it past page 50.

>> No.4989782

It's not that bad after first 50 pages. It just takes some getting used to. It's also really fucking good. There are parts you will really want to laugh at. You should. It's a really funny book. Also banana french toast is delish.

I was one of those people that went straight for Gravity's Rainbow. It was definitely a stupid move, but I stuck with it and actually just finished it a few weeks ago. It was incredible.

Is it much harder than TCOL49 or V.?
I really enjoyed both of those.

Just read it

I was going to. Just deciding if I should read that or IV first.

It's the idea that style creates substance.

Try it.

Try looking up a companion guide, you don't realize it but you're missing out on a shit load of obscure references that are fairly important for understanding more than a couple of key passages

Oh, come on. He can do that when he rereads the book. If he reads two books simultaneously, he will probably never finish it.

are u from denmark, faggot?

>> No.4991931

I like how everybody thinks Gravity's Rainbow is super hard and intimidatingly serious when in reality it's riddled with sections like being stuck in a toilet getting assfucked by negroes, literally eating fecal matter, running away from limerick-singing drunken Americans....

—if you haven't read V. or CoL49, abandon GR and read V.
—read slowly, but don't get caught up on snippets you don't understand
—if you're confused after an episode, google "gravity's rainbow chapter summaries"
—it gets easier after pt. 1
