I need some help /lit/
I'm just starting out in the realm of sci-fi/fantasy and I decided to splurge and buy a bunch of the more popular ones. Problem is, I don't want to spend more than $75 and at the moment the total comes to $100. Which ones should I drop? It'll have to be two or three at the very least...

Get a Kindle Paperwhite.

You can get a used one in good condition for 80 bucks and then read any book you want on it if you have a working library card.

or download any book illegally, especially recommended if the author is dead (literally in this case).

I dunno, there's just something about picking up a nice, weighty book that e-readers just won't ever be able to replicate... I don't really mind the extra cost if it means being able to buy hard copies, I just don't want to spend TOO much on them right now.

Is there a reason why you have to buy all of these brand new?

Also I find that I get way too distracted when reading ebooks. It seems much easier (to me, at least) to immerse yourself in a story when it's a tangible, physical thing.

Does literally no-one have any recommendations? Surely some of you have read some of these books and though "wow this is shit"

Im not too familiar with these works, so I can't tell you which ones to keep and remove. If the money is such a problem for you, and second hand is out of the question, you should look into Dover, Signet, Bantam, Wordsworth publications. They are cheap

First off, buy books used. Second, but books used. You could get all those from a secondhand books website like thriftbooks for 25$

If you're gonna read some Steven Erikson, pick up The Black Company by Glen Cook as well.

Don't get a kindle. Buy a Kobo. Amazon is a terrible company.
