I normally read a book because the concept interests me e.g. i read moby dick because the whole mythology thing sounded interesting as fuck and it had been touched upon in other things i'd read but not embraced and i read tristram shandy because i liked the idea of the narrator basically having adhd

it's not like i don't appreciate the plot and the prose and the themes and everything else but the concept is what makes me actually start reading the book
