What is your thoughts on Don Qoixote? Wikipedia says it is "best literary work ever written" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Quixote

That was probably a spanish teacher's doing. Don Quijote is the most overused spanish classroom theme in Puerto Rico, Honduras and Venezuela, the three places i've lived. Spanish teachers have nothing else to cling to since most of them are too pleb for Jorges and Marquez hasn't reach the 50 years mark yet.

Nigger, Borges is entry level in my school (with Cortázar and Márquez). The old man was a genius, but every freshman reads him so no patrician status for him. Cervantes is way more "inaccesible" than Borges.

On topic: Cervantes was good, the man knew what he was doing, thing is readers don't undertand why it's important. El Quijote is basically the first novel, also the first po mo novel.
