Do you guys ever stop jerking off to prose and talk about the stories?

The prose is the story. There is no separation.

Form is emptiness and emptiness is form.

I bet you haven't even transcended time or space yet, pleb

I think it's funny that people's lives are so boring that they need stories.

But you'll never experience a tenth of the excitement, joy, terror, despair and general depths of the human condition contained in stories. It's almost impossible in this day and age. So why don't you just go die, bitch nigga.

You'd think a literature board would be interested in the story being told, and not the word choice and grammar.

>implying your own life is exciting

But who the fuck am I kidding. This is a troll post. To OP: I've seen much less prose-posts than I have seen plot-posted. Granted, we see very little of either on /lit/. The problem is that talking about plot has very little discussion-value, and talking about prose requires the person to have read the item in question very recently. The only thing you can talk about with a group of people who may have read the novel years earlier is theme and characters. You'd be better off starting a book club if plot discussion is what you're looking for

kek. Plot discussions are infinitely better than prose ones. "the prose was brettty gud" doesn't constitute as worthwhile discussions and that's the level of commentary people have on the prose.

I've read some amazing stories written in pleb prose.

I've read some incredibly dull stories written with amazing prose.

I liked some, disliked others.

Just read what you enjoy, it doesnt need to become a part of who you are.

I dont know where this 'I enjoy James Joyce, you enjoy Charmaine Harris, and therefore am superior" mindset comes from.

If you'd written Ulysses, then maybe...

>> No.4930441

there is no story/plot without prose.
the prose is the presentation and execution of the plot.

Two writers can write the same plot and come out with totally different books.

Imagine: Dan Brown plagiarizing the plot of Blood Meridian. Guess what is produced? A steaming pile of shit.

plot and prose are intertwined forever.

>> No.4932644

The prose comes from the depth and shaping of the plot. So by discussing the prose you discuss the formation of the plot. By discussing the plot you discuss how the prose is shown.

Ideas > Prose > Characters > Story

If the story presents no ideas, and is not written in good prose, then I would be better off spending the time on other medias.

You're wrong. Literature should accomplish what only literature can. If it doesn't, what's the point?
