How much do you /lit/izens read? How many books do you actually read per month?
Don't try to impress me, and also, are they novels? Short-stories books? Poetry?
>I try to read 6 books per month, mostly novels and short-stories, 1 of poetry and an essay every now and then.
I need help choosing a book this week, I'm about to make a really important exam so I need a light lecture to be able to focus more in the subjects of the exam.
Recommend me please a short novel or a short-stories book that's not too long but it'sworth the read.

>Needing a quota of books read per month
>Not just reading for the enjoyment of it at whatever pace you happen to

Go see a play

>> No.4916028

My pace is about 2 books a week. You just have to make time for reading instead of watching tv or playing video games.

I've been reading French psychoanalysts it's hard to tell where anything ends but generally there's been two and four in any dynamic, so, that.

I just read The Pearl by Steinbeck today. I found it nice. I really enjoy all of his work.

Another recent read I did was You Shall Know Our Velocity by Eggars. Also very good.

I made the mistake of reading The Pearl in a coffee shop and cried in public. Good times.

And who are you reading precisely? Could you advise me some books ?

>> No.4916506

I read about 5 or 6 books each month, but I also tend to read poetry and short stories on the side, so I'll have 2-3 books I'm reading at a time.

I don't try to match a quota, but end up reading about one book per week, as long as I keep finding books that interest me.

This, but I'll play along regardless cause I just don't give a fuck.
Depending on what I'm reading anywhere from 1 to 4 books for me

At the moment a sociological survey by Rechtmann and Fassin. Before that Deleuze and Guattari. Would you prefer Freudian or non? Ey, Minkowski, for the second group; for Freudians Lacan's the greatest influence, but I would prefer to read others. Are you interested in any particular area?

>> No.4916706

It depends. Usually I read 4-5 books a month. Sometimes I travel, long train rides, and I end up reading 10-15 books on that month.

It's not really important to count them.

Yes, but sometimes with work and every other activity it's not that possible to read that much. I get frustrated when I don't manage to cover the 6-7 books per month.
And it's not like if it is a competition or anything.
One reads for the pleasure of reading, not to presume how many books one has read, but in this short life, how many books can someone actually read?
Around 20000? And how many books are there!
It's impossible and that's why I get frustrated, I'll never read everything, there's just not enough time and that gets me a little bit depressed.
