Is Ender's Game an enjoyable light read for grown-ups or is it just for kids and "young adults"?

>> No.4868934

I read it when I was 15. It's not bad, but it's definitely more relatable if you're a teenager/young adult... like Catcher in the Rye, Ayn Rand, or Harry Potter.

I had to read it in highschool. Fuck I loathed it.

>> No.4868966

definitely for kids, good if you're looking for something light to read over a day or so though.

Got to read it in my twenties. I really enjoyed the book.

I reada it as an adult, and I did not feel it was a complete waste of time. I was more interested in the intersection of government and family structure than with the narrative stunt "reveal" and on the nose moralizing about spoiler.

It's apparently recommended reading for the Marine Corps. Even though it's ostensibly YA fiction, there are nuggets of leadership.

When I was 22 and home from college for the summer I read the entire book in a 24 hour period because it was good enough to not want to put down.

And the US army makes use of it as such, too. >Christian retard writes a book about the eradication of Muslims and how it's okay, and plagiarises like fuck from Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep

Yeah, that's killing all Muslims in a respectable manner. He has that little friend who says "salaam" (w/e) a lot, too ----they killed those guys and made up (like decent human being should, by the ways) before the buggers attacked.

The book is very obviously pro-war propaganda for children, if you can't see that you're dumb

I suppose you love Ender's Game, lol

>> No.4871476

It's a fun read if you like sci-fi, even if it's not terribly deep or original. If it sounds interesting, then give it a try.

>A young kid growing up in an oppressive family situation suddenly learns that he is one of a special class of children with special abilities, who are to be educated in a remote training facility where student life is dominated by an intense game played by teams flying in midair, at which this kid turns out to be exceptionally talented and a natural leader. He trains other kids in unauthorized extra sessions, which enrages his enemies, who attack him with the intention of killing him; but he is protected by his loyal, brilliant friends and gains strength from the love of some of his family members. He is given special guidance by an older man of legendary accomplishments who previously kept the enemy at bay. He goes on to become the crucial figure in a struggle against an unseen enemy who threatens the whole world.

And J.K. Rowling ripped off the plot of Ender's Game when she wrote the Harry Potter series.
