Egoism is the best you should think only of self-service but stealing from the rich is wrong wrong wrong

What's that guy talking about? I'm not even a leftist and of all of the people I've talked to who've read and liked Atlas Shrugged, not a single one was what anyone would consider intelligent. They were driven, though, and self-absorbed and arrogant and, most of all, simplistic and naive. It should also come as no surprise that the parents of these people were invariably Republicans. Coincidence? Probably not.

Its a hypothetical situation where the USA turns communist in a few years. If your a welfare bum or deprive your income from taxpayers you will hate this.

To any new person interested in the book.... I'm 200 pages from finishing it and the first quarter of it was tough to get through. Like The Fountainhead, it can be very inspirational, pushing you to perhaps work harder or be more determined. You can't deny Rand's philosophy has some validity, as most things do, but life isn't ideal and one must compromise, and in that respect many things in book will seem overly idealistic and will break your immersion or enjoyment of the book, just keep in mind that it's fiction and be aware that Rand writes in hyperbole to convey her point of view.

I think it's a great novel. Most people here seem to hate it cause they don't agree with its philosophy. But if I only read philosophy and politics and religion that I agreed with, I'd have very little to read.

All politics and philosophy is idealistic though. It's how democracy works. A whole bunch of idealistic people argue with each other until a compromise is reached or the most convincing argument wins out. If your politics aren't idealistic, you're doing it wrong.
