shhhhhhh, this is you being brainwashed by society's influence. It makes logical sense that the sense of ego you experience from indulging in the predetermined "coolness" of certain social roles (scientist/writer/engineer/artist) and the fantasy of playing those roles.

Make no decision based on these indulgences and feelings, unless you wish you want to be a "slave", and avoid looking at yourself in the mirror, because that is simply feeding your egotistical sense of self (purely a result of society) and nurturing it to dangerous heights.

OpenStax publishes a physics text that is genuinely good, you can download it free as a PDF or order a hard copy for a pittance. They have some other texts on biology/chemistry/etc but I don't know what they're like in quality. Khan Academy is better than doing nothing at all, at least it'll get you thinking in a scientific way.

You'll also need to learn some mathematics, especially if you want to read to a decent level in physics and astronomy. This really is my bailiwick (maths student) and I would recommend

Paul Dawkins online notes for Algebra, freely available as a PDF on his site and there are also a bunch of practice problems there
Calculus: An Intuitive and Physical Approach by Morris Kline (Published by Dover)
Matrices and Linear Algebra by Schneider, Barker (Published by Dover)
Ordinary Differential Equations by Arnold (Published by Springer)
How to Think Like a Mathematician by Kevin Houston (Published by CUP)

Right because doing the same shit every day on well known systems will totally sate your curiosity and your desire to discover and understand.

There's nothing wrong with doing a trade or whatever if you're not someone who's not interested in that, but it's a pretty shitty existence for someone who is.
