I know Catcher in the Rye is probably plebeian in your guys eyes (it's every angsty teenager's favorite novel) but I find the dark humor and depressed sardonism hilarious and even uplifting.

The same with Martin Amis in his better novels (Money, The Rachel Papers)

Can anyone recommend darkly funny books like these for me? Would be much obliged :3

It's not plebeian in the slightest. It explores the complexities of incest in a very compelling way.

I disagree with most of /lit/, Catcher is a great novel, and like a lot of great novels appeals to readers on numerous levels and throughout life. (One of these is angsty teen somewhat intelligent teens). There's a goodreads review does a nice job encompassing that: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/181040262?book_show_action=true&page=1

I recommend this in most every thread but if you like dark humor and doz feels Once and Future King is outstanding.

Martin Amis a shit, if you like his books you're old before your time, and not in a good way

Amis's sense of humour consists of sneering at 2D cut-outs and making apathy and a boring distate for the world seem virtuous

dark humour implies it's funny
vonnegut can't write and he isn't funny, his satire is shallow and his books are limp

>dark humour
>funny

Not necessarily. I don't think you know what it is. Dark humour is more the type of humour that makes you happysad: things are so stupid and absurd that you can't help but smile but feel bad at the same time. Vonnegut is great at that. Besides, Vonnegut is mostly gallows humour.

You're probably just too young to get him, and now you're in your little adolescent phase where everything has to be serious and all those who don't conform to that are bad writers.

you accused him of being a fifteen year old yet vonnegut's writing is best suited to that age group

I love how Vonnegut fans literally cannot deal with the fact that people think he is a terrible author and follow this formulaic pants-shitting every single time.

You mean you can't tell the difference between a book that's humorous in its design, and a book that makes you laugh? How can you tell he's satire then?

i can see the difference, for example pale fire is humourous but did not make me laugh
