Hey /lit/ in an emergency here---

Just picked up All Tomorrows Parties, assuming it to be a follow up to pattern recognition and spook country (The only other books mentioned on the inside cover)

Of course, it's a follow up to idoru, which I have never read.

The question: Should I read it anyway? Will I get a sense of the plot? Is it like the Lord of the Rings in that you NEED to have read the earlier books?

atp was a decent book. I don't think you need to read any of the others to get a sense of whats going on. It isn't like his "classics".
