As a Zombie-American I dislike this thread.

It could be a really entertaining read, and like zombie
movies it could throw in some social commentary. But I
think it would be inescapably perceived as "genre
fiction". Not that there's anything wrong with that.

>> No.479828

No. Seriously, I don't get what's the big deal with zombies. It's like a shit game comes out, just because it has zombies, everyone's excited, even if it's shit. And then when they talk about the perfect game it's always a GTA with zombies or some shit. What's the fucking appeal?
This is the exact same feeling I have with steampunk, as well.

So no, I would not read a novel set in a zombie apocalypse. They are not interesting.

>> No.479829

zombies are over.

vampires are over.

werewolves have been over since 1985.

I want to read a horror story about /b/

My friends constantly talk about zombies and I don't really like zombies all that much to begin with. So no.

>>479829

A book about a /b/like board ruining someone's life would make an interesting read, actually.

I've always liked zombies, and I'd read a well-written zombie book. Pic sorta related.

I'd read a zombie book about a zombie who regained a sense of awareness but still has the flesh-hungering inclinations of a zombie. Then this zombie becomes the Zombie General and fits with humans and eventually another Zombie General appears with a second zombie army and with the last group humans all caved away and ready to be picked off the two zombie armies fight it out to see who gets to eat the humans. Fucking Zombie Civil War. Screw humans.

I really can't stand zombie books and movies anymore though.

That's why it's sorta related. The book has a feel that reminds me of the whole zombie setting.

I knew after I posted that image that someone would say something like "Vampires, not zombies." That's not the fucking point, obviously.

The problem with zombies is that they tend to always steer plots in the same direction and writers tend to use the same metaphors over and over.

If I see one more "Oh shit, how do I deal with my wife/child/co-worker not being human?" moment or "See, these mindless walking creatures are just like ignorant everyday Americans" story, I'll an hero.

We need innovative takes on the living dead. Pick fucking related.

Too bad this book still gets no love. Postmodern linguistic zombie apocalypse.
