>Why do you have so much anxiety about writing anon? I thought you wanted to be a writer?

>Are you worried it will be a best seller?

>Are you worried it will be yet another in a long line of failures and wastes of time?

>Do you prefer to daydream about being a writer rather than writing itself?

Repeat after me, it's all vanity.

Because Nabokov scared me into researching the canonical meaning of every insect in my story, and now I have occasional night terrors where Calvino hunches grimly over my bed, pthisically breathing through closed lips as he presents a series of flash cards depicting beetles with German inscriptions to me, and his eyes seem intimate some reference to Dageurre or Bauldrillard and his dispointment in my German lessons as a child as I have failed to draw any meaning from his actions for so long. I haven't even started writing the sex scenes, and my editor wants a glossary; I have no time to attempt also being an unauthentic narcissist.

I don't know what you want people to say, you're correct on all accounts.

But I don't have anxiety about writing.

But I never wanted to be a writer. I don't even like reading very much.

I want it to be perfect, and I can't make it perfect.

I recently had the thought that writing might be easier than interpretation. You just write and try to keep your story consistent but leave the deeper meaning to the reader. Don't talk about it either, just let them do it.

I suppose at the end of his life Kubrick could've made a movie about a ball rolling down a street and the critics would've found all kinds of deep messages. Some guy would've mentioned sisyphus, you bet.

Saying it's more about the expectations than the actual content. It's all smoke and mirrors.
