no greeks were just normal people. they just organized their society in a way that allowed freedom of thought and expression. nearly all subsequent socieities have limited personal freedoms in various ways to consolidate power into the hands of the few. at this time, it could go either way, to more freedom or more gov control. it depends on many things. but dont expect us to reach the heights of the greeks again without shedding the bloated amount of gov. control over our lives
