Hey guys - could we discuss Fight Club? Specifically the masculinity part - and how if Palahniuk structured the plot-twist the way he did for a reason?

I've never read the book, but I know the ending is different from the movie. It seems masculinity is massive theme, there (I don't mean in a misogynistic way, I mean in a conscious way): there are no women in the fight club and castration is prominent fear in two cases.

A question I've been probed with my contemporary lit prof - how is Project Mayhem different in themes/values than Fight Club?
