Most novels tend to receive a (or more) televised adaptation(s).

Alright /lit/, let us see how many novels you're willing to list down that are merely impossible due to the material in hand, etc.

[Pic related, Blood Meridian]

None?

Do you mean GOOD film adaptions? Good based on how close it stays to the events and/or themes of the book, or good as a film itself? That seems like the only reasonable criteria for a good film adaption, and with that in mind it seems like any movie could theoretically have a good adaption made of it.

McCarthy himself thinks Blood Meridian would work well as a movie, and I agree. I'm not a film guy, but based on what I've seen I imagine There Will Be Blood type dialogue and pacing, with incredible landscape shots and cinematography drawing from but bastardizing Western tropes to play up how dark and perverted it is.

The Judge's monologues would translate great on screen IMO, though I can't imagine who could even play him.

This.

Would a 'good film adaptation' even work well for Blood Meridian, given the content?

Examples I always assume would be difficult to translate would be Dune, Roadside Picnic, War & Peace, The Forever War, Snow Crash, etc.

No novel or story is truly unfilmable. Cronenberg made a version of Naked Lunch.

It was nothing like the book.

The Foundation trilogy.
