Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is less than 200, and is a personal favorite. Each of the books in the series is that short, I believe, and intensely worthwhile.

Same for Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency books, which are more tightly structured than the Hitchhiker books.

unfortunately, I will never again be able to enjoy of mice and men, thanks to secondary education in Ireland. I could never read it again without concentrating on silly things my teacher told me to concentrate on, like steinbecks distrust of wommyn.
