What is the essential socialistcore, /lit/?

Obviously you have Marx and Paine, and then Orwell and London.

What else would make the list?

>Obviously you have Marx and Paine, and then Orwell and London.
>socialistcore

Out of those its Marx only. Everyone ought really to touch Marx, Anarchism in general, Leninism (provided that you explain that its wrong, ha ha, my little joke).

>essential
Not much is essential. And for Marx it'd really only be the findings in wages price and profit. And you can be exposed to them without reading Marx himself.

Leninism is so widespread that it needs to be responded to.

Anarchism likewise (in the broad sense, including in the libcoms). Anarchism and Leninism are the two surviving tendencies of politics dealing with workers.

Essential is a bad way to approach this. Why do you want a reading list? If you give me a purpose, I can give you a list.

So basically you're using this poor anon's thread to propagate your own views instead of actually giving recommendations ?

I don't agree with this guy about much else in his post but he's right that out of that list the only "socialistcore" is Marx. London was a writer foremost, not a socialist writer of note in that sense. At best you can say the same for Orwell as well, but it's my own view that Orwell wasn't a socialist at all, given his cooperation with the British state informing on Communists, his ardent opposition to the Soviet state, etc. Of course, you're free to make your own judgements, but even my political views aside I wouldn't say Orwell is very essential anyway.

It does depend what you're looking for. Are you just surveying the literature or do you have an interest in the stuff practically?

Do you know what the word "essential" means? It is a very strong word.

I expect anyone with 12 months to understand (broadly), the wage and value; something about Leninist organising; something about libertarian organising.

That's what I mean by "essential."

Fuck me you seppo cunt.

That's sufficient to boot someone to deal with revolution, Leninist organising and Libertarian organising.

Now fuck off. Maybe if OP answered my fucking question about why he wants a reading list I could give him non essential texts that suit their reading level, level of involvement and interest, and kind of interest. If OP is a radfem, then I'm going to suggest Butler on performativity because I enjoy being cruel to radical feminists. But otherwise I'm not going to raise Butler am I?

Its fucking hard because of the issue of what texts really are essential. Now I enjoy Federici as much as the next man; but I'm not exactly going to suggest that EVERY SINGLE CLASS WARRIOR really needs to read Federici am I?

Not really. I'm not going to fucking throw a fit if someone hasn't read an obscure Italian marxist's semi-doctrinaire autonomist history of the creation of race and gender in early capitalism.

I rarely advocate what I believe people should read to struggle on /lit/ because unless we're face to face there's no point. /lit/ isn't a site of circulating solidarity.
