If I hadn't already read The Hitchhiker's Guide that would be perfect.

Art can't be entertaining?

If something's entertaining it can't be art?

>> No.4666369

Right you are. I should say I'm looking for entertainment and not looking for art. Of course all novels are art, but I'm not trying to learn or anything like that. I just want to enjoy myself.

Have you read the Hannibal trilogy?

>> No.4666382

>>4666373
No, but I've seen the movies and I don't think that's what I'm looking for. It's hard to explain. I just haven't been into horror/thriller type stories lately. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Don't know if you would consider it artsy, but I've just read Notes from the Underground by Dostoyevsky and I had some laughs, although the overall theme is sad.

There often isn't such a distinction, op.

I hate the art/entertainment dichotomy.

Old Man's War is pretty good for pure entertainment value. Read it on a plane ride a few weeks ago. There's a little less celebration of the "good soldier" when compared to something like Heinlein, but if you're into Grimdark this book has a good bit of it.
