I think the problem is that there's always teenagers first discovering the standard works that teenagers love, then they come on here to discuss them. So as you mature, the board can end up still feeling like it's static.

Do you know how some animals don't have the right response when their survival instict kicks in and just freeze before a predator? Well, I've been a little like that for 8 years. And the predator has been time.

I just can't deal with aging. I feel tricked. I know "Time destroys everything", I always knew those were the silent words that haunted me at every disappointment, at every remembrance of how the past was better. My understanding of what time was was such a fairy tale.

Life is so complicated if you see most of it as pointless, and in the end, black.

What I'd suggest is to really nail your writing sample. The sample is probably 60-75% of the application - especially for a humanities PhD. Second to that are letters of recommendation.
Since you're finishing early, you should really make sure you strengthen relationships with professors as soon as possible - that's one thing I had to learn quickly when I realized I had enough credits to finish early.

As long as your concentration GPA is fine and your GRE scores are reasonable, you'll have no problem getting into a top 30-40 school.

Really make sure your sample is fantastic: have professors read it, comment on it, and keep rewriting it till it's perfect. I've known people with awful samples and stratospherically high numbers that were denied from top programs. I've also known people with brilliant samples barely breaking 3.2 with average GRE scores that were accepted into top programs.

Much luck!

25 and I can relate. Growing up I hated the idea of having kids. Around 21 after two years with my SO I started to think I might want to some day, but still wasn't excited about it. Each year since it's turned the other way so that now I'm kind of excited about having kids, but just worried about how to manage wanting a career, but also wanting to be a stay-at-home mom 'cause I wouldn't want kids unless I could be a big part of their lives.

Other peoples' kids still frighten/disgust/annoy the fuck out of me, though.

Look up a local training school, give them 4-5 thousand dollars, and 2 months later youll be on the road making money. Usually when companies hire new drivers theyll give you some additional training (paid training) and put you in a truck with an experienced driver for a couple weeks.
Its actually real easy to get into as long as you have a good driving record. Sure beats going to college for 4 years if you ask me
Gets kind of lonely on the road but if you can deal with that its an awesome job. Im earning over 1k a week right now

Its proubably one of the most stable jobs you can get. I have recruiters from other companies calling me all the time. Its pretty trippy because befor this it was a struggle to land shitty fast food jobs for me.
Those tickets might hurt you but wont kill you. Depends what they are for. If they are both for reckless driving you might be in trouble.
Just find a school and talk to them, and do some internet research. The industry is in desperate need of drivers. You still moght be able to get on board with a shitcompany where you wont be making great money but youll still get your foot in the door. Once you got a year of experience the world opens up to you and you can work pretty much anywhere.
