Time – Impossible, Improbable, Unethical

the past, the present, the future -
Marty, you fool! -
it’s all broken, all shattered,
all thanks to you!

snip, snip, snap! goes the deLorean
cutting the universe’s yarn into two
you had to use those scissors!
you had to, didn’t you?

what might have been, Marty –
what might have been!
before you left, he was as he was.
Cruel, corrupt, and bullying –
but is that a reason to change his life forever?
to cowardly, and clumsy, and boring?

you should be jailed for what you did.
sure, he was a drunk, and he wrecked your-damn-car
and he intimated your father, perhaps way too damn far.
But he was who he was, Marty!

Then you fell backwards in time
to the school’s Under-Sea Ball;
to when your parents first kissed -
You murdered them all!

Now, your father intimidates poor Biff
(though, arguably less so
than Biff did to him;

he tries to explain.
“Now Biff,” threatens your father, “Don’t con me -!”
Your father has money, Marty, but that’s not all he has.

“I meant I was just starting on a second coat.”
The roles are reversed.
Moments pass; we see Biff is not who he was
he was stronger, then; tougher.
And you took it all away.

Say hi to your mom, Biff had once said,
before you muddled things up.
Do you know, Marty, what he does after work?
He rocks in his chair,
remembering things that never should have –
could have -
would have - happened!
And he repeats that phrase,
over and over and over again;
in every timeline, in all of your blunders,
Biff wanted her, and only her:
your mother, Elaine.

He knows not where it comes from
knows not the crime committed,
but we know, Marty, we know.
