What does /lit/ think of William S. Burroughs?

>> No.4599197

Lost interest when I stopped being a teenager. Not trying to be an ass, but that's how it was.

Read Naked Lunch a couple times, loved it
Read Exterminator! once, much of it was hit or miss
Heard 3 spoken word albums of his, all great
Watched a documentary about him, it was alright

Pretty gay, but not nearly gay enough.

Tamaghis ... Ba'dan ... Yass-Waddah ... Waghdas ... Naufana... Ghadis.

Same to me happened with him and the rest of the beats. Also, Bukowski and Richard Brautigan. But I still have to admit that I like reading In Watermelon Sugar.

>> No.4601637

Junky and Queer are his most enduring works imo.

Forgot to mention, that to this day I still enjoy reading The Abortion (by Brautigan) but I don't think it is nearly as great as it was when I first read it. Actually, now that I think about it...I feel the same way about the rest of his novels. Although I never did like Trout Fishing in America as much as I felt I should. I do really dislike the majority of his poetry.

But yeah, WSB...uh...I liked Naked Lunch, The Yage Letters, Junkie, and Queer. Not sure if I would reread them but I did really enjoy them at the time.
