What does /lit/ think of D. H. Lawrence's prose and poetry?

I recently bought his collected short stories and an anthology of his poetry. I just wondered what the consensus was on here about his work.

Personally, I am rather enjoying his short stories.

Did you know that when he was 17 he placed first in a national academic exam? Imagine being that age and being told that you're the smartest kid in America. Must be nice.

In that situation, my ego would get the better of me. Everyone would hate me within 24 hours of me being told that I had placed first.

He was English, goofball

And OP, I've only read The Rainbow but it was some god-tier modernism.

Of course it would. I assure you, everyone probably hates you and your ego already.

I always get him confused with some black dude. I don't know. I googled him and he's alright. Not a fan of the style.
