if you enjoy what you do read, then just keep reading and you'll eventually find a book you can finish.

there are many books i've abandoned for whatever reason but i can always go back to them if i want.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic but this was my life during high school

Read shorter books

/lit/ casual here, my problem is finding a book I will enjoy.

I'm real picky with books as I don't want to invest a lot of time into something and it be a waste.

With movies though I will watch basically anything. But if a book isn't good I will drop it half way. I end up dropping a lot of books.

But when I do find that book I enjoy I read it in a day or two depending on size and finish it. Maybe you just are picking the wrong books OP.

>>4584578

I have a problem doing this, if I read more than one book at a time I will get tired of one book, drop it and focus just on the other one.

Also I really hate 500 paged novels unless they are really good. I fucking hate filler and wasting time.

>> No.4587905

Simple solution: read short stories. Duh.

Just read up to a certain point and convince yourself the book ended after that

Then tell your friends about the 'outstanding achievements in postmodern storytelling' you experienced

Enjoy being seen as knowledgeable about literature.

Useless fool.
Here's the answer, OP: Crocodile tongues. One thousand long, slimy crocodile tongues boiled in the skull of a dead witch for 40 days and 40 nights. And, the gizard of a pig, the fingers of a young monkey, the beak of a parrot and three spoonfuls of sugar, and then, let the moon do the rest.

same problem OP, but it's not our fault, it's the books'.

Humans are terrible at writing books it seems, only a couple are worth finishing. Im not joking.

I prefer short stories and poems. No one needs 400pages to tell a story.

Ignoring that this is a joke, short stories is actually a good idea. Get some good collections of short stories and at some point you might start wishing the stories were longer, then you can get some of the author's novel material.

also novellas
