>> No.455692

I might have an opinion if only it was written by AYN RAND

Holy shit, I bought this exact book a few weeks ago.

Feels good man. Have some other reading material lined up before I start on it. But I've read lots of Lovecraft before. I adore his work.

>> No.455693

Why the hell would you buy that when all of Lovecraft is in the public domain and therefore online for free?

I mean, he's not even that good of a writer. Okay, I guess

I respect your individual opinion that you consider him as an 'ok' writer, but you cannot deny the tremendous influence he has had on the world of literature.

Furthermore, I am glad to dish out forty bucks to buy it and hold a proper book in my hand, instead of staring at a screen.

Op here, i bought it today. Feels good man indeed.

You just wanted the damn book so you could role play Army of Darkness. Who's the king baby!

He really wasn't trying to be a good writer, he was just trying to make up a shitty story every couple weeks to pay the bills. He wasn't really putting a whole hell of a lot of thought into them, and they really aren't that good when you talk in terms of quality or substance, but it's classic because of the new ideas that he introduced, like reanimator.

>> No.455745

That looks like a shitty faux leather binding. Do not want.

I can and will deny it. What influence has he had on the history of literature? Besides things that are specifically referencing Lovecraft that we refer to as Lovecraft-esque, what does Lovecraft bring to the table? Seriously, if there's something I'm missing here, let me know, but I really do not see any important contribution Lovecraft made to literature.

Reading on the computer is shit tier.

*angrily point out that necronomicon should be used as a title for Lovecraft selected stories*

Its little things. Mostly more science fiction horror. Almost all horror before him was typical vampires and ghosts, his was about space aliens and unspeakable abominations.

Also if it wasnt for him slime wouldnt be considered a horror cliche, he was the first to do that.

true

That's fairly minor influence duder. Like, it's a major influence on sci-fi horror, maybe. But a major influence on a minor field is a minor influence. He definitely did not have a "tremendous influence on the world of literature". That is a lofty claim.
