Why do I imagine that this character is black? In my head, as I read, I picture dick as a black man. How do I undo?

I have to read this for my Golden Age Children's Lit class in a few weeks! I haven't read it yet, but I totally pictured him as black too.. weird.
Now I definitely won't be able to get it out of my head.

I imagined Jackie Burke as black in Rum Punch despite her being described otherwise. I didn't even see Jackie Brown before hand - though admittedly I had seen a poster.
