I haven't read it in years, but like the part where Holden talks about his classmate who committed suicide but tries to act all nonchalant like it didn't affect him, and pretends just calls his teacher "pretty cool" for being to the first one to run up to the boy after he jumped off the roof. It was sort of like he used "pretty cool" as a euphemism for his love for this teacher and his selfless action, but of course, our tough guy Holden would never admit to loving someone. He's bigger than that.
