I feel like such a posturing idiot whenever I buy a band, movie, or book, or any media t-shirt. It feels like a waste when I spend $20 on a t-shirt I'l feel uncomfortable in. What's the point of this kind of apparel? Just to let people know you enjoy "x"?

One of my best friends wears shirts from books she's read...I know she has a Slaughterhouse 5 one, and I think a few others.

The day after she finished One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest she showed me her new "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" T-shirt. I think she only wears it as pajamas, though.

It is a bit frustrating because I know Slaughterhouse 5 is the only Vonnegut she's read, which is fine and all but it seems akin to wearing a band shirt after hearing just one of their songs and not bothering to check out the rest of their output.

1) You see the most obvious collection of books, clearly made by someone without own taste just by grabbing all the often-spoken names. Judging by the absence of eg Sartre, Dostoyevsky, Kafka, Cortasar, Borges - names are spoken among middle- to high-schoolers.
